Strahlender Sonnenschein und eine leichte Brise erwartete die niedersächsischen Leichtathleten am zweiten Tag der Landesmeisterschaften in Wilhelmshaven. Mittendrin war auch Josina Papenfuß von der TSG Westerstede, die über die 3000 Meter der U18 startete .
Nach Möglichkeit wollte Josina die guten Bedingungen nutzen, um vorne um den Titel mitzulaufen, auch wenn mit der ein Jahr älteren Lisa Vogelgesang die Favoritin eindeutig feststand. So oder so war dieser erste Wettkampf der Saison die erste richtige Standortbestimmung über die Langstrecke und die erste Möglichkeit, um die Norm für die Deutschen Meisterschaften abzuhaken.
Pünktlich um 11:30 Uhr und bei noch angenehmen Temperaturen fiel der Startschuss. Zu Beginn zeigte sich keine der Läuferinnen bereit, Tempo zu machen und so musste sich Josina an die Spitze setzen, um die Geschwindigkeit hoch zu halten.
Nach und nach zog sie damit das Feld auseinander und nach dem ersten Kilometer hatten sich drei Läuferinnen vom Rest abgesetzt, immer noch mit Josina an der Spitze.
Die TSG Athletin zeigte sich gut in Form und konnte Runde um Runde abspulen. Auf den letzten 2 1/2 Runden erhöhte sie sogar kontinuierlich weiter das Tempo und es wurde deutlich, dass nur noch Lisa Vogelgesang frisch genug war, um Josina gefährlich zu werden. So kam es dann auch leider: Etwa 600 Meter vor dem Ziel trat jene aus dem Windschatten und setzte zum Überholen an.
Nun kam es zu einem langgezogenen Schlussspurt, in dem Josina noch einmal alles gab und belohnt wurde: Die 10:27,57 Minuten bedeuten neben dem zweiten Platz eine neue persönliche Bestleistung und Qualifikation für die Deutschen Meisterschaften! Damit kann Josina ganz entspannt in die Vorbereitung auf den Saisonhöhepunkt gehen, der Ende Juli in Mönchengladbach stattfinden wird.
