Bei strahlendem Sonnenschein und eisigen Temperaturen ging es für die Athleten der TSG Westerstede das erste Mal für dieses Jahr auf einen Wettkampf. Wie immer begann die Wettkampfsaison mit den Kreismeisterschaften im Crosslauf, dieses Jahr beim SV Friedrichsfehn. Auf Grund der hohen Teilnehmerzahlen starteten die Läufer des 1300m Kinderlaufs in zwei Gruppen. Dabei war die TSG Westerstede in allen angetreten Altersklassen auf dem Siegertreppchen zu finden: Felix Wilksen (M08, Bronze), Bennett Zimmermann (M09, Silber), Anna Wempen (W08, Bronze), Philip Hilbers (M10, Gold), Nils Tröller (M10, Silber) sowie Dennis Fröhmert (M11, Bronze) durften ihre gewonnen Medaillen direkt bei der Siegerehrung in Empfang nehmen. Knapp am Treppchen vorbei haben Jendrik Koens und Enjo Zimmermann Platz 4 und 5 in der Altersklasse M08 belegt. Auch Niklas Schaffarzik , Lasse Pistoor, Henrike Koens und Imke Tröller trugen in ihrer jeweiligen Altersklasse zum Vereinserfolg bei. Marc Fröhmert musste sich mit einem Zeitunterschied von einer Sekunde mit dem vierten Platz zufrieden geben.
Die Altersklassen U14 und U16 starteten über 2150m und auch hier konnten wir große Erfolge erreichen: Florian Neidhardt erreiche hier ebenfalls das Treppchen und gewann in der M12 die Bronzemedaille. Auch Lana Zimmermann (W13) und Chiara Widow (W14) durften die bronzene Medaille mit nach Hause nehmen. Alexej Semenov (M14) erreichte zugleich einen soliden 5. Platz.
Zum Schluss folgte die Mittelstrecke über 4500m und auch hier konnten wir eine hohe Teilnehmerzahl und gleichzeitig starke Platzierungen realisieren: Mit David Holmgren (15:24min) und Corinna Petznik (22:12min) gewannen wir sowohl den Kreismeistertitel der Männer als auch den Frauen, Bronze ging mit Ricarda Pfaffenroth ebenfalls an die TSG Westerstede. Bei den Männern erreichten des Weiteren Dennis Lenzdorf, Timo Kruse und Reiner Schmelzer mit guten Zeiten das Ziel. Weiterhin gewannen wir im Jugendbereich mit Bennett Petznik (U20) eine Bronzemedaille. Zusätzlich gab es für Luca Krisch (U18) und Eva Schöneboom (U20) in ihrer jeweiligen Klasse den Kreismeistertitel. Mit David Holmgren, Martin Krisch und Dennis Lenzdorf sowie Corinna Petznik, Ricarda Pfaffenroth und Helene Lüers konnten auch die Mannschaftstitel der Männer und Frauen an die TSG Westerstede verliehen werden. Der Saisonstart verlief somit auch auf Kreisebene äußerst erfolgreich und lässt uns auf ein starkes Jahr 2018 hoffen.
